What is Counselling?

Never spoken to a counsellor before? It's normal to wonder what actually happens, what you're meant to say, or whether your situation is even "bad enough" to bring in. Here's the honest answer.

In simple terms

Counselling is a confidential space to say the things you're carrying — with someone trained to listen.

ENQUIRES

Counselling is not about being told what to do, it's about having someone genuinely in your corner while you work out what you need and how to move forward. You don't need a diagnosis or a crisis to start. People come for all kinds of reasons — big, small, sudden, or years in the making.

What actually happens in a session

No script. No pressure to say the "right" thing. We talk about what's brought you in and what you're hoping to get out of it. You set the pace — nothing before you're ready. From there, it becomes a space that's entirely yours: to process, to problem-solve, or just to be heard.

Is counselling right for me?

If you're asking, the answer's probably yes. We help with anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, relationship struggles, trauma, big life changes, or just feeling stuck and not quite yourself. You don't need to know what's wrong to begin — "something feels off" is a perfectly good starting point. In this game of life, not everyone knows how all the puzzle pieces go together, much of life we have to work out along the way.

Will it stay private?

Yes. What's said in session stays in session — the only exceptions are situations required by law, like risk of serious harm, and that's always explained upfront. No surprises.

How sessions work

However suits you: in person, in a calm private space; Zoom, from wherever you are; or phone, if a screen feels like too much. No wrong choice — plenty of clients switch between them week to week.

Taking the first step

Reaching out is the hardest part. You don't need it all figured out first — that's what the sessions are for. Ready to talk, or just want to ask a few questions first? We're here.
